Dear ETC Friends and Partners,
Warm greetings from the staff, faculty and students of the Evangelical Theological College of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!
We take this opportunity to update all our friends and partners on what God has been doing since our last update. Many exciting events have taken place and the ETC family has been blessed by them. We look forward to seeing the Lord work to glorify Himself through our ministry here at ETC in partnership with you. We thank you for your continued support and faithful prayers.
ETC Expansion Project
The ETC expansion building project is underway as we look at expanding our very crowded current facilities. A ground breaking ceremony took place on February 13, 2016.
ETC took a step of faith and signed a contract with AL-FISH Construction Company. The work on the thirteen-story building has now started. The site was cleared and construction continues as funds become available. We will be sending you another update soon with specific ways you can pray for and support this project.
The new building will allow ETC to serve hundreds of more students. Once the building is completed, it will make ETC financially sustainable through the funds that it will generate.
We do need your prayers and help to complete the project. We will continue to update you on its progress so that you can pray with us and also be involved in the work. Our friends and partners can make financial donations towards this project by either directly transferring to the ETC account or by using the Tax-Deductible option. The details for both options is found on our website (click here). We trust God to help us finish the project so that ETC can continue to help build the church here in Ethiopia and beyond.
Seminars ETC Hosted
In its commitment to strengthen the leadership of the Ethiopian Evangelical Churches, ETC has continued to organize different seminars in this Academic year for churches and leaders of theological colleges.
E-learning Seminar – In partnership with NET Foundation (in the Netherlands) ETC is looking at the possibility of offering online education for students who may not be able to study on campus. Fifteen faculty members attended the training on developing online courses on February 8 – 10. We were able to try it with one of our graduate program courses since then and it seemed to work very well and we believe it has a great potential in Ethiopia to make theological education more accessible.
GATE Workshop – ETC hosted a GATE workshop on teaching methods on March 15-18 in DebreZeit. ETC was excited to help sponsor this event. Nine theological schools were represented and thirty faculty education leaders attended the training. GATE (Global Association for Transformational Education) exists to enable majority world theological educators to equip church leaders in ways that are appropriately contextual, genuinely transformational, and Biblically grounded.
Dr. D.A. Carson Conference- ETC was also honored to host a seminar called: “The Church and Her Spiritual Gifts” with Dr. D.A. Carson on March 7-8. More than 400 people attended the two day event and it was very well received.
An entrance exam for the fall semester was given on Saturday, March 12 for 100 new prospective students. Seventy three students successfully passed the entrance exam and will begin their studies in the coming months. Please pray for these incoming students that God will use their time at ETC to prepare them for the ministry He has given them in their respective churches.
ETC’s Partnerships – God has given ETC many partners such as yourself who uphold ETC in prayer, provide financial assistance towards the Student Scholarship or the Needy Students Fund or the different ETC projects. Others have given their time and expertise and are serving with us as part-time or full-time faculty. We want to praise God for the wonderful gift you are to ETC and to the work of His kingdom.
Pray for us and Praise with us
