The Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Studies program is designed to prepare scholar-practitioners for service in the local church as well as in higher-level theological institutions, equipping them for roles in administration and educational leadership, research, publication, and curriculum development in Ethiopia and beyond.
General Program Objectives
The following are the general objectives for the program.
- Equip educators to demonstrate spiritual maturity in their ministry.
- Equip educators to integrate theological foundations into educational practice.
- Prepare educators who would conduct original research and engage in publications pertinent to the church of Ethiopia and the society.
- Enable educators to engage in contextually relevant curriculum design, instruction, and leadership within both church education as well as higher-level theological institutions.
Mode of Delivery
The Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Studies is designed to be offered as a hybrid learning combining face-to-face and online course formats:
- Combines the flexibility of asynchronous online learning with the depth of face-to-face engagement. Students work online completing content, discussions, assignments and then come for 3-5 days of face-to-face engagement of presentation, discussion, and applications.
- It is ideal for working professionals, graduate students, and international learners.
Curriculum of the Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Studies
The Doctor of Philosophy in Educational studies is a 52-credit hour program. It allows students to have a purely Educational Studies degree or choose an area of specialty – Curriculum studies or educational leadership. The program will have the following components:
