The Theology of Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies is a graduate program designed to equip men and women for advanced, research-oriented engagement with Scripture and theology. Integrating academic rigor with spiritual formation, the program develops the ability to teach, equip, and train leaders for the church and higher educational institutions in Ethiopia and beyond.
General Program Objectives
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will:
- Apply advanced hermeneutical methods to critically interpret and evaluate biblical texts in academic research.
- Demonstrate exegetical mastery of biblical languages, producing rigorous analysis that informs theological scholarship and teaching.
- Conduct original research by engaging primary and secondary sources in both digital and nondigital libraries, culminating in a project of publishable quality.
- Investigate contemporary challenges facing the church and Ethiopian society and formulate biblically grounded responses through scholarly inquiry.
- Exhibit responsible stewardship of Scripture, integrating academic excellence with spiritual maturity to advance Christ’s mission and serve the wider community.
Mode of Delivery
- The ThMBTS program would take 1 year for the full-time student and 2 years for the part-time student.
- Each concentration will take four courses of three credit hours.
- We provide two-week modular courses for each concentration, and it will take about two months.
- The first two weeks are between June to Augst, and students are required to take the common courses.
- Students are required to meet six times ( a year) with their assigned supervisors to receive feedback based on what they have been doing.
